Man vs Rock Vol 1
“From the dawn of humanity… there has always been one problem…”
Showcasing exactly what makes indie comics great, Man vs Rock is the absurd tale of humanity’s struggle against its oldest adversary… rocks. And these aren’t some evil alien rocks. These are the same ordinary, seemingly innocuous rocks covering the earth for ages… and that’s what makes them so dangerous.
Man vs Rock is a hilarious story following possibly the only person on earth who knows the threat the rocks pose to mankind – Professor Buck Stone. His mission is to educate the unruly youth on their plot, and to stop it before it’s too late. Armed with over a million pounds of C4 explosives, Stone plans to detonate every major outcrop of rocks around the world. But, there’s only one problem… the rocks are attacking today!
The artwork in Man vs Rock is crude and over the top, just as it should be. Color isn’t necessary with a story as ridiculous and entertaining as this one, and being in black and white only enhances the grittiness. The exaggerated features of the characters further drive home the irreverent story. The art is everything you want it to be.
This book screams “bad action movie” in the best way. Amidst all the serious comics we have available, it’s nice to find a break with something as relaxed and jocular as Man vs Rock. It doesn’t take itself too seriously while remaining abundantly entertaining, which makes the story even more enjoyable. If you’re looking for something light to read, don’t be a rock sympathizer. Pick up this book… before it’s too late!
